How do you win in Tamerlane Chess?

Win by checkmating the opponent king, trapping the king so it cannot escape capture (Stalemate=Loss rule applies), or forcing the opponent to resign.

What is the King Swap rule?

If a king captures an opponent piece and the captured piece is adjacent to the capturing king, the opponent may swap their king with the captured piece.

What is the Citadel rule?

The two corner squares on each player side are called Citadels. If your king reaches the opponent citadel, the game ends in a draw.

1. Information Collection and Use

Our platform collects minimal personal data (account information, email address) and in-game interaction statistics to provide services. Cookies are used only for mandatory technical functions such as session management and security.

2. Data We Collect

When creating an account, email address and username are requested. Game history, win/loss statistics and rating information are stored. When signing up via Google OAuth, profile information (name, email, avatar) provided by Google is transferred.

2.1 Guest Users (Without Registration)

When you play our game without creating an account, we collect the following data to provide you with a better experience: Device ID (stored in your browser's localStorage), game history and move records, game statistics (wins, losses, draws), and your preferred language setting. This data allows you to view your game history and statistics even without an account.

3. Data Sharing

Your personal information will never be sold to third parties for commercial purposes, except as required by law. Your data is used solely for service provision, game matchmaking and leaderboard functionality. We have data processing agreements with infrastructure providers such as Vercel (hosting), PostgreSQL (database) and Redis (cache).

4. Data Security

Collected data is stored using industry-standard encryption and security policies. Your passwords are hashed in the database so they cannot be decrypted. All communication takes place over encrypted HTTPS channels.

5. GDPR Compliance

If you are a resident of the European Economic Area (EEA), you have the right to be informed about, access, rectify, erase, and restrict processing of your personal data. Contact us for any data protection requests.

6. Data Retention

Your data is retained as long as your account is active. When you delete your account, all personal data is permanently deleted within 30 days, except where legally required to retain.

6.1 Guest User Data Retention

Guest user data is retained for 24 months from the last active date. If you create an account and link your guest data, your data will be preserved indefinitely. You can request deletion of your guest data by contacting us.

7. Cookie Policy

No tracking or advertising cookies are used, other than mandatory session cookies. Session cookies are automatically deleted when you close your browser. For guest users, a Device ID is stored in localStorage to track game history.
